Thursday night, Station 4 was emptied out for a structure fire on the corner of Washington Boulevard and North 9th Street right up the road from the station. Company 4 arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from a 2 1/2 story wood frame building that houses a chiropractic office on the first floor and an apartment on the second floor and attic level. A walk around revealed fire showing in the Baker quadrant of the basement. The Rescue made entry in the front door and split crews, one heading up to search the upper floors, and the other to search the first floor and located the inside stairs to the basement. The Tower company went to work laddering the building, opening up basement windows, and getting fans and lighting up. The Rescue crew in the basement located the fire in the Baker quadrant, and awaited the arrival of Engine 110's line to extinguish it. The fire was quickly extinguished with only minor extension to the first floor.
