Box Assignment: Unknown

Thanks to FF/Medic Blake Iselin of Station 9 www.acfd9.com for
story and pictures.
As units from 9 and the surrounding companies
were clearing a first due box on George Mason Dr., ECC came on
the air and asked what units were ready cause they had a report
of a house fire on Monroe St. Medic 109 was at Four Mile Run and
Walter Reed and proceed in that direction. Once the exact address
was given units responded. Medic 109 was the first on the scene
reporting smoke showing from a multiple family dwelling. Medic
109 then escorted the occupants away from the building and reported
smoke from the attic vents and on the second floor and that all
the occupants were reported out of the building. Tower 104 arrived
next along with Rescue 109 and Engine 107. Rescue 109 forced entry
to the first floor and found fire in the ceiling The rescue began
to open up as Engine 107 stretched a line. After the area was
opened up the Engine 107 moved in and knocked the fire on the
first floor. The Rescue 109 opened the area up and the hot spots
were hit. As this was going on units were on the second and third
floors opening up and checking for extension. Fire was found on
the second floor and was stopped before extending to the third.
As Medic 109 was looking for the utilities to the building another
occupant was located in one of the many Apartments in the building
and the occupant was escorted out and away from the building.
Engine 109 arrived delayed as a result of their position from
the first box. They laid out and stretched a line to the charlie
side of the building. Rescue 109 and the other units did some
overhaul and cleared the scene shortly after. The cause of the
fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshall's Office.
